So the time has come for you to start to get yourself back in shape and now you are wanting to get into boxing because you think/read/heard that boxing can be a great workout. Well you are right, boxing can and is an excellent workout.
So what type of punching bag do you need?
Any type of punching bag technically can work. But I personally recommend a free standing punching bag or a hanging heavy bag for the reason that they will be the best for you to get the best workouts on. I personally have a free standing punching bag, it is just an old cheap century wavemaster xxl punching bag. You can find a review of the wavemaster xxl here if you are wanting to get the same bag that I have.
How long do I need to workout on the bag to get a good workout?
This is entirely up to you, but for the best results I would recommend a 20-30 minute workout with breaks at 10 and 20 min. I will recommend a break that is no longer than 2-3 minutes.
How Should You Workout on the bag?
There are many ways to workout on the bag. You can throw jabs, double cross hooks, kicks, you can also practice your MMA skills. The wavemaster xxl has a removable top so that you can practice your ground game.
